Question / Comment -  The heaven Test reaction - How can you be the judge if I am created perfect in God's image?

How can ye be the judge? If I was created in the image of God, how can I not be perfect and therefore I must truly be free of any judgment?

Hi Tobias,

I kinda doubt that you want an answer so I'll keep it brief. Let me ask you, does your wife think you are perfect? I'm assuming not! : ) Sorry... you aren't perfect nor free from judgement. You were created in the image of fallen humanity, just like the rest of us. The Bible says:

Gen 5:1-3 This is the book of the generations of Adam. In the day when God created man, He made him in the likeness of God. (2) He created them male and female, and He blessed them and named them Man in the day when they were created. (3) When Adam had lived one hundred and thirty years, he became the father of a son in his own likeness, according to his image, and named him Seth.

You will see that it says that Adam and Eve were initially created in the image of God. When they had a child, 130 years later, it was 'in their own likeness/image'. And what had happened in between times? The fall. Thus everyone born post-fall is born in the image of the fallen Adam. That includes you and me.

1Jn 1:5-10 This is the message we have heard from Him and announce to you, that God is Light, and in Him there is no darkness at all... If we say that we have no sin, we are deceiving ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar and His word is not in us.

All the best,

Iain.

Thank you for the clarification. I can see why you might have thought of my question as a bit provocative, but I honestly just got a little annoyed by the quiz on your page because ,it seemed very odd to take a quiz of how likely I will go to heaven.. and since I have not Been been studying the Bible on a higher level than high school I had always thought that God created man in his image period. So thanks a lot for the clarification it makes more sense in that context.

Hi Tobias,

thanks for the clarification. While it seems to confuse some, 'The heaven test' was setup with one goal in mind. It was setup for non-Christians more than Christians. It was setup to show that NO ONE will make heaven by their own goodness / good works and we all need to individually trust what Jesus did for each one of us. The whole purpose of the test is to show that we all fail God's righteous standard and that is why He sent His Son... the ONLY one to have ever lived a perfect life, so that we all can make it to heaven based on His work, not ours.

It is important to read the result of the test because it points back to faith in Jesus. It shouldn't annoy you unless you are someone who thinks that you are 'good enough' on your own merits to make heaven. But if you have seen that you fall short, like the rest of us, then the heaven test should be GOOD NEWS because it is the answer to how fallen messed-up humans can still still make heaven - through faith in Jesus and God's grace.

Concerning your original comment, there is more on the fall and restoration of God's image in mankind here if interested:
