Hi,

thanks for the email and the question. The reason the gospel message is Christocentric is because there is salvation in and through no other person! A few quick points...

For the non-Christian, the message is Christocentric because:

Jesus is the promised Saviour, spoken of by God and written about in the Law, the Prophets and the Psalms (Luke 24:44-47)

Jesus is THE Lamb of God that takes away the sin of the world - there is no other (John 1:29)

Jesus is the ONLY way to God the Father (John 14:6)

There is salvation in NO OTHER name (Acts 4:12)

For the Christian, the message is Christocentric because:

We are "accepted in the Beloved" (Jesus) (Eph 1:6)

Jesus is our righteousness (1 Cor 1:30, Phil 3:8,9)

Without Jesus we can do "nothing" (John 15:5)

Our hope in this age, is based on "Christ in you, the hope of glory" (Col 1:27)

Our hope for the future, is based on "the blessed hope—the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ."

There are some quick points anyway. If salvation comes through Jesus alone, and without Him "we can do nothing", then let's keep our gospel message as Chistocentic as we can and, as the writer of Hebrews tells us, "Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith." It is obviously fine to talk about the Father and the Holy Spirit but we should bear in mind that Jesus is the image of the invisible God and everything was created by Him and for Him! He is the Word made flesh that people could touch, see, talk and interact with. He is God in the flesh! (Col 1:15, John 1:1-5, 1 John 1:1-4) The Father spoke from Heaven telling us to listen to Him (Matt 17:5) and the role of the Holy Spirit is to point people to Him (John 15:26-27, 16:13-15).

Thought it is a quick reply, I hope it helps when people ask. A few other interesting documents on the website related to this are:
